Your body is smarter than you think. Inside every living think from a human to a single celled organism and even plants is something called innate intelligence. It is this innate intelligence that allowed a single celled organism to develop into the magnificent being you are today. This same power that knew how to build the body also knows how to heal the body. If you have ever wondered how your body knows how to heal a cut on your finger or deal with the common cold or even to increase your rate of breathing and your heart rate when you exercise it is your innate intelligence expressing itself. This power is smarter than anything man has come up with but as with all things it has its limitations that can interfere. These include Thoughts, Traumas and Toxins or the three T's for short. Our innate intelligence is meant to allow our body to adapt to the world around us which is essential to maintain life but our perception of life can damage our innate intelligence. If all we feed our body with is negative thoughts and stressful situations it can overwhelm our body and keep us in a heighten state or arousal. The body changes several key bodily functions when in a state of arousal to help us survive. Imagine you are being attacked by a bear your heart rate would increase so your muscles get more oxygen, your pupils would dilate to allow you to see better, digestion would slow to allow blood to flow to your muscles and you would be your best self to survive that situation and that response would be good. Now imagine you are at your desk and you have a deadline for work. The same things happen but you are still at your computer and have no outlet for the changes your body has made in response to the stress making stress hormones build in your body and digestive issues to start. This is just one example of how thoughts can negatively affect your body. Next is trauma. The obvious one is large impacts. If you get hit with a bus or fall out of a tree that is a limitation of matter that our body was not designed to be able to handle but lets focus more everyday. Our bodies handle microtraumas day in and day out whether it be us sleeping in poor posture, slouching at our desk, lifting wrong or countless other things these micro traumas that seem small while they are happening build up causing issues in our body and one of the big ones is preventing the brain from communicating with the body effectively. The function of the nervous system is to communicate to the brain what is happening in the body and nerves must travel through the spine uninterrupted in order to make that happen effectively. Just the weight of a dime on a nerve can reduce transmission of vital information to the brain restricting the brains ability to effectively regulate the bodies systems. The last T is toxins. Our body needs certain nutrients in order to properly function and needs to avoid others. If all you eat is greasy processed foods and alcohol you are not going to be healthy there is nothing your body can do if it is not getting what it needs to properly fuel your body.

Your innate intelligence is a magnificent power that we would not even exist without. We need to take care of it and make sure that it is able to fully express itself in our bodies. Chiropractic care is a natural form of health care that helps the body regulate itself. By keeping the spine aligned we help the brain communicate with the body so that the body can heal and regulate itself providing you with optimal health.Â
